ERON

ERON

The Italian ERON, was consecrated in 2016 by Treccani Encyclopedia as one of the most gifted and accomplished protagonists of the international urban art and contemporary art scene, will present a series of never-before-seen works of mixed media on paper, spray paint on canvas, and sculptures.

Eron (Rimini 1973) is a nationally and internationally acclaimed Italian artist. He took an interest in urban art and writing at a young age, and in the late 1980s/early 990s he became one of the first to promote them in Italy. He attended Art school in Urbino, which provided him with a structured training and allowed him to expand and perfect his expressive techniques, namely his figurative language. Throughout the years, he developed a highly personalized style, drawing inspiration from real elements that he portrays with innovative techniques.

Through the use of acrylic paints and spray paint technique, which he has refined to a virtuosity level, ERON achieves an extraordinary mimesis on large-scale, such as buildings and urban elements, or on smaller scales such as canvas and bases of various sizes. This language is the expressive means that gives shape to subject matters of profound value. His poetics is based on this unique and outstanding technique which becomes the vector of poetic and evocative images.

In recent years, ERON has been focusing on a series of works on walls and on other elements upon which he depicts figures or individuals who are more or less famous, making hem symbols of current issues of general interest. Using his mimetic technique to reproduce esthetic or structural defects of walls, which appear dirty and old, the artist alludes to shapes, signs, and portraits that tell a story and are often connected to the location itself. In 2012, MMOMA, the official magazine of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, featured a full article on his originality and on the poetics of his painterly style.

The artist has been invited to cultural institutions and important international venues such as: Chelsea Museum of Art, Palazzo delle Esposizioni di Roma, Venice Biennale, Italian Culture Institute di New York, Museum of Moden Art in Cairo, il PAC-Pavillon of Contemporary Art in Milan. And most recently, for the Treccani Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia in Rome, he painted a piece dedicated to migrants on the side of a boat carcass entitled "Soul of the Sea", which depicted faces of women and children that seem to take shape from the rust of the boat itself.Pictures of this piece went viral and both The Economist e The Chicago Tribune published it as the picture of the day. Treccani Encyclopedia now contains an entry for ERON.
