TODD JAMES

Todd James (New York, 1969, lives and works in New York) is an internationally recognized American artist. He is co-founder of significant artistic projects such as: Street Market (Deitch Project, New York, 2000), Beautiful Losers (Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, 2007). In the early 1980s, Todd James, at just twelve years old, began painting New York subway carriages under the pseudonym REAS, gaining great popularity in the writers' culture. In 1987 he designed the Beastie Boys' Brooklyn Dust Elephant logo, later collaborating with artists such as Iggy Pop, Eminem, Pharrell Williams, U2 and Miley Cyrus, just to name a few. His works are exhibited in important cultural institutions including: the Venice Biennale (2001, 2015), the MOCA Museum in Los Angeles (2011), the Brooklyn Museum in New York (2011), the Paul Kasmin Gallery in New York ( 2011), the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati (2004), the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco (2004), the Tate Modern in Liverpool (2002), the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia (1999).
