Galleria Patricia Armocida is proud to present Appearance and Disappearance, a solo exhibition by Agostino Iacurci, opening on Tuesday, April 21st 2015 at 7:00PM.
The exhibition will include ten small, medium, and large-scale canvases; fifteen assemblages; and six wooden sculptures made especially for the gallery. Agostino Iacurci combines the ability of an illusionist with that of an artist: both create a magical illusion meant to trigger a sense of awe in viewers. His works follow a thematic path based on the constant principle of deconstruction and de-composition of the figure, juxtaposed with, in a complementary and synchronous manner, a new combination that straddles different forms of nature. Thereby, alongside the physical deconstruction of the subjects, a constant in this body of works, we see the continual quest for a principle of completion and integration of the elements.
Agostino Iacurci’s works have a style that is unmistakable, recognizable, and simply poetic. Vast painted surfaces, a range of harmonious colors, and the use of scarlet tones come together to form a complex melody. Agostino directs the scene and, despite the clarity of the elements and synthesis of forms, hegenerates dream-like images that evoke mystery.
His geometric, simple, and clean style often plays with opposites: alternating between empty and full, division and composition, appearance and disappearance.
Outlines of humans, flattened figures grafted into natural environments. Undefined atmospheres, timelessly suspended in a transitory state which captivates the mind. Prior to the opening, from April 7th to 19th, two original and authentic monumental sized canvases hand-painted by the artist will be on display in Milan: one of 90 sqm in Piazzale Loreto, and another of 80 sqm in Piazzale Cadorna.
This Project, curated by Galleria Patricia Armocida, was made possible through the technical sponsorship of DEFI Group and OIKOS Paints and Architectural Materials.
